This module is a continuation of Module 2711. Whereas Module 2711 focused on the legal side of health and safety at work, the emphasis in this module is on the prevention of damage to health and on general welfare at work.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

When you have completed this module, you should be able to:

  • Define ‘hazard’, ‘risk’ and ‘risk assessment’ and be able to apply them to the work situation
  • Carry out a simple risk assessment for manual handling operations
  • Carry out a simple audit of VDU hazards
  • Identify appropriate sources for further information and advice
